F.A.Q.

What is this series about?
Ultimately, this series is about educating the general population of the issues we, the Anishinaabe, have about our culture, community and public perception of who we are as a group. Is there a better way to show this than to ask the people themselves what they are concerned about?

Why is it important to have a written submission?
Firstly, the words are yours, they represent what We (the Anishinaabe) are thinking about at this time and place. Secondly, I will use your submission as part of the art I am creating for this series.

How do you use my words in your art?
For this project I will have your words written on a chalkboard, that I will provide. Then have you stand beside the chalkboard and at that point I will shoot a photo of you and the chalkboard.

Is that all I have to do?
Yes, that is all you have to do.

But really what you should be asking is,

How is that art?

Think about the final image,
when you see a person standing beside a chalkboard with words written on it, you should see that person as a Teacher.

We (the Anishinaabe) become the teacher,
to teach other people about ourselves!

What you have just done is read the photo as artwork.
